About Chante Moody

Chante Moody I am a fine artist, an illustrator, a YA novelist of dystopian fantasy, and a creative writer of short stories and children's picture books. I create oil paintings, acrylic paintings, water paintings, ink and graphite sketches, chalk art, yarn art, and digital paintings. Although I am an artist and writer, first and foremost, I am a mother of six children, ranging in ages of 1-16. They are my life! They are a fun yet rambunctious little crowd that keep me constantly busy. :) I am 39 years old. I'm from Sacramento California, but I now reside in Pleasant Hope Missouri (which is about 30 miles north of Springfield Missouri). I love to make vibrantly colored paintings of landscapes (both realistic and fantasy). I love to paint and sketch portraits too. I like sketching celebrities, but I prefer to sketch everyday people (especially family members and friends), because I like capturing the natural beauty people exude in their day to day lives. I am self-taught artist, and I continue to learn every day through practice, YouTube tutorials, and observation of other artists. I started out making arts and crafts as a hobby; but, after many people started offering me money to make art for them I started making art on commission for people locally. I've also made sells at local art shows and flea markets . Currently, I have been making mostly digital art using the Microsoft Paint App and the Microsoft Paint 3D App. Since I had a baby last year, I took the year off from writing and painting to focus on carrying for my baby and her toddler sister who is also at home with me all day. I haven't made any traditional art to sell this year. But, I can't go without a creative outlet for long, so I decided to teach myself how to create digital paintings since it is inexpensive and it isn't messy. I use the Microsoft Paint App because it is a free software program I already have on my PC. I don't usually use the internet much (I actually don't even have a cell phone), so I just have a 14 year old PC instead of one of those fancy new tablets with a stylus. So, I just use the PC mouse that came with my desktop PC instead of a stylus when making digital art. Let me tell you, painting with a glitchy mouse takes some getting used too haha. Anyway, I have decided to put my digital art up for sell. It isn't nearly as good as my traditional art yet, but I'm sure I'll get better with practice. I think you'll still find it unique, whimsical, fun, and interesting to look at. :)
